My surf paintings celebrate the freedom, energy, and timeless appeal of life on the water. For me, surfing represents more than a sport. It’s a feeling and a connection with nature, and the experience of being completely present in a moment that will never happen quite the same way again.

The relationship between surfer and wave is special and I try to use oil paint to explore the fleeting encounter.

Surfing also evokes memories of summers by the beach, the dream of living near the ocean, and the feeling of freedom that makes those experiences so meaningful to me. It can be the instant before a surfer enters a breaking wave or the exhilaration of riding it, I want my paintings to depict what it feels like to be part of it.

These paintings are a unique part within my larger body of work. While my ice cream paintings are about the simple pleasures of summer and my intimate seascapes explore the quiet beauty of the shoreline, my surf paintings embrace the ocean's energy and our adventures in it.

Ultimately, they celebrate our desire to return to the places and experiences that make us feel most alive—a love letter to fleeting moments carried forward by the waves.
